James "Jay" Bias III, younger brother of ex-Maryland basketball star Len Bias, was shot to death Tuesday at a Hyattsville, Md., shopping center.
Police said Bias, 20, was shot twice in the back while sitting in his car. The shooting occurred after Bias, with a female friend, argued with a man in a jewelry store. Jerry Samuel Tyler, 24, turned himself in and was charged with first-degree murder Tuesday.

Boston Red Sox majority owner Jean R. Yawkey, 83, who suffered a stroke Feb. 20, died Wednesday at Massachusetts General Hospital.
Yawkey, the first woman ever to serve on the Hall of Fame board of directors, had controlled the American League team since her husband, Thomas, died in 1976. He had owned the team since 1933.
